Did police accidentally record evidence of a genuine UFO abduction? The Pascagoula incident’s Anniversary prompts a look into this very strange UFO case. 

On October 11, 1973, Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker were fishing along the Pascagoula River in Mississippi when they reported seeing a strange illuminated object nearby.

 

According to their account, three bizarre beings emerged, immobilized the men and took them aboard. Hickson said he remained conscious during an examination, while Parker became overwhelmed and remembered far less of what happened inside.

Within hours, the two men went to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and reported the encounter.

 

Officers were skeptical enough to leave Hickson and Parker alone while secretly allowing the tape recorder to keep running. Instead of hearing the story fall apart, police captured a private conversation in which both men continued talking as though something terrifying had really happened.

 

The case quickly drew UFO investigators, national media attention, medical examinations, a polygraph and later witness claims.

 

Now, on the 53rd anniversary of the Pascagoula encounter, the most compelling part of the case may still be what happened in those first few hours, before hypnosis, books and decades of later memories entered the story.
